 Presentation/Seminar/Workshop

 

·         Successfully organized a National Level Seminar on Biodiversity titled “Biodiversity Exploration, Conservation and Utilisation of Plant Resources with Special reference to North East India” on 18th& 19th December, 2007.

·         National seminar on “Commercial cultivation of Medicinal Plants in North East India” held at Regional Institute of Science and Technology (RIST), Meghalaya on 9th to 10th February, 2010. 

·         International Conference on “Global Warming, Climate Change vis-à-vis Management of Natural Resources in North East India” held at Regional Institute of Science and Technology, Meghalaya on 22nd & 23rd March, 2010.

·         Participated in International Conference on “Plants in Diabetes: Prospects and Challenges” held at Gauhati University on 8th and 9th April 2011, organized by Asian Network of Research on Antidiabetic Plants (ANRAP), Dhaka,  Bangladesh.

·         Participated in 2-days National Workshop on “Brainstorming on exploration, conservation and sustainable utilization of Rare, Endangered & Threatened (RET) medicinal plants of Northeast India” organized by National Medicinal Plants Board, New Delhi and NEDFi, Guwahati, on 10 and 11 November 2011.

·         Pro VC, University of Science & Technology, Meghalaya (USTM) Dr. R. K. Sharma acted as a chairperson in one of the Technical Session and also presented a paper in the International conference on “17th Diabetes and endocrine Conference” organized by Bangladesh Endocrine Society and Diabetic Association of Bangladesh during 13-15 December, 2011 at Dhaka, Bangladesh.  

·         Pro VC, USTM participated and acted as a chairperson and delivered talk in an eight days workshop on “Training on Documentation, Assessment of Local Health Traditions and Survey of Flora used in Local Health Traditions of Lower Assam” during 18th to 25th January, 2012, organized by Gauhati University, Assam.

·         Pro VC, USTM also presented a paper and acted as a chairperson in one of the Technical Session in an International seminar on “Biodiversity, Conservation & Environmental Health” during 16th and 17th March, 2012 at Assam University Silchar, India, organized by Department of Life Science & Bioinformatics, Assam University Silchar, India.

·         A National Seminar on “ Human Rights Issues in NE India” was organized on the 12th February, 2012. The Key speakers were Dr. Justice Aftab Hussain Saikia, Chairperson, Assam Human Rights Commission and Former Chief Justice, J&K and Shri P. J. Baruah, Executive Editor, The Assam Tribune.

·         A Panel Discussion on “ India- Bangladesh Relations- Beyond Trade & Commerce” was organised on 13th June, 2012. The Discussion was graced by His Excellency, Sri R. S. Mooshahary, Governor of Meghalaya and His Excellency, Sri Tarik Ahmed Karim, High Commissioner of Bangladesh.

·         A Seminar on Higher Education was organised as a part of the North East Teachers' Congress-2013 held on the 22nd & 23rd of March, 2013 in collaboration with CSIR-NEIST. The Seminar was richly participated by a number of participants and the some eminent Speakers like- Prof. Sai Prakash & Prof Ratan Tookey both from Osmania University, Prof. N. K. Choudhury, Former VC, GU, Prof. Ashwini Baruah, Prof. Mrinal Kr. Das, Prof Balendra Kr. Das, Dr. U. C. Kalita and Mr. P. J. Baruah of The Assam Tribune.

·         A Panel Discussion on “ Higher Education in Arunachal Pradesh- Problems & Prospects” was organised by ERDF in Itanagar on the 29th of July, 2013. Prof. Tamo Mibang, VC-RGUand Dr. Joram Begi, Director, Higher & Technical Education, Arunachal Pradesh graced the occasion.

·         ERDF & USTM in collaboration with Madhavdev College, Narayanpur has organized a National Seminar on “ Challenges in Higher Education- A North East Perspective” on the 29th of January, 2014 in Madhavdev College, Narayanpur.

·         A Ministry of Minority Affairs, Govt. of India sponsored National Seminar on “ Educational Status of Minority Women in NE India- Challenges & Future Prospects” was jointly organised by ERDF & USTM on the 1st of March, 2014 in the University Campus. The Key speakers were- Sri. Allen Brooks, Member Assam State Minority Commission, Sri. Samsul Hoque Mazumdar, Former Director, Planning & Development, Govt. Of Assam and Prof. Monirul Hussain, GU among other speakers
