Prof Amarjyoti Choudhury
joins as CV Raman Chair Professor of Applied Sciences
Prof Amarjyoti Choudhury, former
Vice-Chancellor, Gauhati University & Pro-VC, Tezpur
University has joined the University of Science & Technology,
Meghalaya as C V Raman Chair Professor of Applied Sciences and
also Academic Advisor to USTM today. A grand reception was
given to him by more than 3000 students, faculty members,
research scholars and high officials in front of the Amenity
Centre. Prof Amarjyoti Choudhury was welcome by a cultural
procession by students and was felicitated by Shri Mahbubul
Hoque, Chancellor, USTM & Chairman, ERDF, Dr. P. G. Rao,
Vice-Chancellor, USTM, faculty members & students on the
occasion.
CV Raman Chair Professor of Applied Sciences has been
instituted in USTM to stimulate and promote research in the
field of applied science.
An academic career spanning more than 4 decades Prof Amarjyoti
Choudhury’s area of specialization includes Nano-Science and
technology, Condensed Matter Physics, Photonics and
Optoelectronic Instrumentation. He is also highly commended
for his contribution to Art, Literature and Culture of the
region. He has been guiding intensive research work on the
works of Dr. Bhupen Hazarika.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Amarjyoti Choudhury said,
“Only Research & Development works will help any university to
excel”.
Prof Amarjyoti Choudhury will look after to achieve Excellence
in research activity at USTM and will connect USTM with
institutes of Excellence globally.
