Eminent senior Professors joined USTM

“A teacher inspires, educates, guides and motivates the
students, burns like a candle and spread the light of
knowledge to the society”, said the Chancellor of University
of Science and Technology, Meghalaya, Shri M Hoque while
welcoming a team of senior professors who joined the
university recently during a colorful event at techno city
campus. Dr N K Choudhury, the former Vice Chancellor of GU and
Principal Advisor of ERDF along with the higher officials and
faculty members of USTM were present in the event.
The senior eminent professors who have joined in the different
departments are, Dr D K Sarma, and Dr Saibal Sengupta, the
retired professors of Zoology from Gauhati University(GU); Dr
Enamul Karim, Professor of Chemistry, North Eastern Hills
University (NEHU); Dr Bichitra Kalita, and Dr Safayat Hussain
retired professors from Assam Engineering College, Dr Aparna
Bhattacharjee, retired professor, department of English,GU; Dr
M A Prodhani, Deptt of Library & Information Science, Jamia
Humdard, and Dr A K Singha joined as the Dean in the
University School of Law & Research.
Dr P G Rao the Vice Chancellor of USTM expressed his hope
saying that, teachers are the torchbearers of an academic
institution and without their contribution the organization
can not excel in the field of education. These professors have
already contributed immensely in their academic field and
their experience will expand the path of progress for our
university.
Shri M Hoque while introducing the senior professors further
added that the new born varsity will progress under the able
guideship of these senior teachers and there will be more
research oriented activities in different departments as these
professors have elevated research experience. Dr N K Choudhury
also remarked that the growth of USTM is very rapid in these
couple of years and now it is very important to retain this
growth and it is only possible through research oriented
activities and the responsibility should be vested upon the
experienced academicians. He also said with a sense of humor
that, now USTM has faculties who are in the age group of sixty
plus and forty minus which is indeed an unique combination of
experience and young enthusiasm.
All senior professors expressed their happiness and assured to
do their level best to make USTM one of the best universities
of the World.
