World Physiotherapy Day 2018 Observed at USTM

September, 2018: World Physiotherapy Day was celebrated
today by the Department of Physiotherapy at USTM. The theme
of this year’s celebration was ‘Physiotherapy in Mental
Health’. Dr. Dipankar Bhattacharya, Deputy General Manager,
Oil India Limited and Chairperson of Anti-Doping Commission,
Indian Association of Sports Medicine, delivered a talk on
Health and Fitness. The other speaker on the occasion was,
Dr. Bijoy Pratim Chaudhuri Senior consultant psychiatrist at
Mindcare Neuro Psychiatric Clinic, Guwahati and Excel Care
Hospital, Guwahati.
USTM Chancellor, M Hoque graced the event and delivered a
motivating speech. Other dignitaries present include, Dr.
P.K Goswami, Vice Chancellor, USTM, Dr. R. K Sharma,
Advisor, USTM, Dr. Ajmal Barbhuiya, Academic Registrar, USTM,
Dr. Habibul Islam, Dean, School of Allied Medical Sciences.
All the dignitaries delivered inspiring speeches. Dr. Pooja
Chaudhuri, H. O. D, University College of Physiotherapy and
Research delivered welcome address and briefed about the
immense role physiotherapy has in mental health.The even
concluded with the Vote of Thanks by HOD, Department of
Physiotherapy, USTM.
After the sensitizing sessions, students performed three
skit plays at Amenity Centre of the University. It followed
with Walkathon inside the university premises. A free
physiotherapy Camp was also organised by the department in
association with Indian Association of Physiotherapists
Women's Cell. |
