USTM Signed Four MoUs with Various Universities in Turkey
A Brief Report
The University of Science &
Technology, Meghalaya (USTM) has moved one step further to
work for development of education and research and signed
several significant Memorandum of Understandings (MoU) with
four premier universities in Turkey during 9 to 12 July 2018
with the objective of academic and research collaborations.
The MoUs were signed by Prof. Nevzat Tarhan, Rector, Uskudar
University, Istanbul; Prof. Dr. Musa Duman, Rector, Fatih
Sultan Mehmet University, Istanbul; Prof Dr Metin Dogan,
Rector, Ankara Yildirim Beyazit University, Ankara, and Prof
Dr. Mustafa Sahin, MD, Rector, Selcuk University, Konya,
Turkey with Mahbubul Hoque, Chancellor, USTM, India. Apart
from these four universities, the USTM team visited Marmara
University. The team also had a meeting with the President
of Yunus Emre Institute, Ankara, Government of Turkey and
another meeting with the President of the Council of Higher
Education, Turkey.
Chancellor of USTM, Mahbubul Hoque stated that USTM is
extremely grateful to Prof Gous Mashkoor Khan from
Jawaharlal Nehru University who played a vital role in
materializing the promising collaborations with the four
Turkish universities. “We are also very thankful to Prof
Suhail Sabir from Aligarh Muslim University and Prof Mohd
Akhtar Siddiqui from Jamia Millia Islamia for accompanying
the team and representing USTM”, he said.

MoU with Uskudar University, Istanbul, Turkey
USTM has signed MoU with
Uskudar University, Istanbul, Turkey on Monday, 9th July
2018. The MoU was signed by Prof. Nevzat Tarhan, Rector of
Uskudar University and Mahbubul Hoque, Chancellor of USTM at
the Rector’s office in the university in Turkey. Vice Rector
Prof. Mehmet Zelka and vice President Prof. Muhsin Konuk,
Prof. Akhtar Siddiqui, Jamia Milia Islamia, New Delhi, Prof.
Suhail Sabir, Aligarh Muslim University and Prof. Gous
Mashkoor Khan of JNU, New Delhi were also present on the
occasion.

MoU was signed by Prof. Nevzat Tarhan, Rector of Uskudar

Istanbul on Monday, 9 July
The MoU was signed in order to
extend mutual cooperation and to promote mutual
understanding between Uskudar University, Istanbul, Turkey
and University of Science & Technology, Meghalaya, India.
The two universities agreed to enter into the protocol on
promotion of joint research works including exchange of
faculty and research members, development of student
exchange programme and organization of programmes granting
duel diplomas in conformity with the legislation of both
countries, exchange of academic research data and related
materials, cooperation in publication activities and
cultural activities, organization of joint academic and
scientific activities such as conferences, seminars,
symposiums and congresses. The MoU has been effective from
the time of signing till five years, on the completion of
which it could be extended further.

MoU with Fatih Sultan Mehmet University, Istanbul, Turkey
Fatih Sultan Mehmet
University, one of the premier universities in Turkey, has
signed MoU with USTM, India on 11th of July, 2018. The MoU
has been signed by Prof. Dr. Musa Duman, Rector, Fatih
Sultan Mehmet University and Mahbubul Hoque, Chancellor of
USTM in presence of high officials of both the universities.
Prof. Akhtar Siddiqui from Jamia Milia Islamia, New Delhi,
Prof. Suhail Sabir from Aligarh Muslim University and Prof.
Gous Mashkoor Khan from JNU, New Delhi were also present on
the occasion.

MoU was signed by Prof. Dr. Musa Duman, Rector, Fatih

USTM on 10 July at Istanbul, Turkey
The main focus of the
MoU has been student cooperation, academic cooperation, and
scientific research. Student cooperation between the two
universities will be enhanced through encouraging students’
visit between the two institutions, student exchange
opportunities to study at the respective institutions,
organizing joint workshops and encouraging students to join
the summer school programs organized by the two
universities.

MoU with Ankara Yildirim Beyazit University, Turkey
The Ankara Yildirim Beyazit
University (AYBU), Ankara, Turkey has signed MoU with USTM
on 12 July, 2018 for exchange of various programmes of the
two institutions. The pact has been signed by Rector Prof Dr
Metin Dogan of AYBU and M Hoque, Chancellor, USTM in
presence of Vice Rector of AYBU Prof Dr M Fatih USAN and
other high officials.

Ankara
Yildirim Beyazit University signed MoU with University of
Science & Technology Meghalaya on 12 July at Ankara, Turkey
The main objectives of the MoU
have been, exchanging scholars, students, academic
information and materials to enhance mutual understanding
between the respective scholars through various exchange
programmes. The exchange programmes based on the respective
academic and educational needs include: exchange of faculty,
exchange of undergraduate and graduate students, joint
supervision of MS and PhD students, exchange of periodicals
and other publications, organization of joint research
programmes, joint conferences and joint language courses.

MoU with Selcuk University, Konya
With the objective of
development of education and research, the Selcuk
University, Konya, Turkey signed MoU with USTM on 12 July
2018.
The MoU was signed by Rector of Selcuk University Prof Dr.
Mustafa Sahin, MD, and Mahbubul Hoque, Chancellor of USTM in
presence of Vice Rector Dr Ahmet Kagan Karabulut, Dean and
other high officials. From India, Prof Gous Mashkoor Khan,
Jawaharlal Nehru University, Prof Suhail Sabir from Aligarh
Muslim University and Prof Mohd Akhtar Siddiqui from Jamia
Millia Islamia represented USTM for signing of the MoU.

MoU was
signed by Rector of Selcuk University, Konya, Turkey, Prof
Dr. Mustafa Sahin, MD, and Mahbubul Hoque, Chancellor of
USTM on 12 July
The MoU has lead to
collaboration between the two universities in areas of
exchange of faculty members for lectures and short term
visits, exchange of students for academic study, exchange of
student and post doctoral fellows to conduct basic
scientific research, participation in conferences and
symposia, exchange of academic and research materials,
publication, planning for joint explorations in academic
matters.
It was decided that academic cooperation between the two
institutions will be enhanced through establishing Joint
Degree Programmes, exchange of researchers, appointing joint
supervision and external examiners for masters and PhD
thesis, joint review of scientific research, etc. Under
scientific research collaborations, activities like
organizing scientific conferences and workshops, enabling
researchers to mutually benefit from the facilities and
resources of both institutions and encouraging joint
publications between the researchers of both institutions
are included.

Official Meetings

Prof. Dr.

Government of Turkey felicitated by M Hoque, Chancellor,
USTM
Several high level meetings
took place during the weeklong visit including the meeting
with the President of Yunus Emre Institute, Ankara,
Government of Turkey and meeting with the President of the
Council of Higher Education where it was decided that
concerned departments of respective universities will
institute fellowship and scholarship for students to go for
duel certification by the collaborative universities.
All the four Turkish universities have appreciated the
effort of USTM for development in the field of education and
innovative research. “USTM is determined to fulfill its
