Dr Paruchuri Gangadhar Rao has taken over as new Vice Chancellor of the University of Science and Technology, Meghalaya on 02/06/2014. In a formal ceremony in the University, Dr. Rao took over the charge in presence of Mr M Hoque, Chancellor of the University and other high officials. Dr Rao replaces Dr.R.K.Sharma the acting Vice Chancellor and also the Pro VC of the University.

Dr. PG Rao obtained his B. Tech in Chemical Engineering from REC (NIT), Warangal and M. Tech in Chemical Plant Design from IIT, Madras. He obtained his Ph D from IIT, Madras in 1995 in the area of Polymer Engineering. Dr Rao occupied various positions at CSIR-North East Institute of Science & Technology and CSIR-Central Leather Research Institute, before taking the position of Director at CSIR-NEIST. Dr Rao has specialized in chemical process Design & development. Dr Rao was honorary faculty in Anna University, member of the academic council of Tezpur University and Member of Executive Council of Assam University in the past.

Now with this back ground Dr. Rao has joined the University of Science and Technology, Meghalaya, an initiative of ERD Foundation, “to make it one of the best Universities in the North East India, with a high national and international profile”.
