Meghalaya designated Mahbubul Hoque a successful
Entrepreneur in North East
USTM, Ri Bhoi, October 10, 2017:
“I appreciate Chancellor Mahbubul Hoque for his dedication
and commitment to explore the state’s education sector and
establish a centre of excellence in learning, which is
empowering the youth not just Meghalaya but of the entire
Northeast” said the Chief Minister of Meghalya, Dr Mukul
Sangma while attending a national conference on the theme
“Think Global Act Local: Contemporary Sustainable Business
Practices & Development”at the University of Science &
Technology Meghalaya (USTM) Conference Hall in Ri Bhoi
District on October 10, 2017. The two-day conference
organised jointly by USTM and the North-Eastern Management
Association (NEMA) will conclude on Wednesday.
While delivering his speech as the Chief Guest of the
Conference, the Chief Minister of Meghalya, Dr Mukul Sangma,
lauded USTM Chancellor Mahbubul Haque saying, “financial
institutions should look at education as a viable and
sustainable space for promoting entrepreneurship. Hoque is a
role model for us, whom we can showcase as an academician,
an entrepreneur and who motivates others”.
The Chief Minister, who has visited the USTM after nearly
five years, was all praise for the university and assured
its students that the State government will submit a
proposal to North Eastern Council (NEC) to finance North
East Hostel for boys and girls and an exclusive hostel for
the students of Meghalaya at the university. He further
said, “I am delighted to learn that a state of the art
auditorium is coming up shortly at the University campus and
I am sure that with this, Meghalaya will become a favourite
destination for both national and international events.” Dr
Sangma also stated that institutions can play a big role in
attracting interest from world over. Hence, he said, the
governments need to encourage the institutions. He, on his
part, assured all support and cooperation to developmental
efforts in the field of education by USTM and NEMA.
Delivering the keynote address on the occasion, BP Mukteih,
CMD NEDFi, said, “We have to think global as it impacts us,
but action has to be taken locally to achieve the goals.” He
cited the example of climate change which is a global issue
but action is desired at the local level.
More than 100 participants and scholars from different parts
of North East are participating in the conference along with
many experts and professionals from the field of management
studies
